FUN FACTS
Deoxys is currently one of the only known Pokemon to be categorized as both a mythical Pokemon (previously due to being event only) and a legendary Pokemon (due to appearing in the Delta episode of ORAS). Arceus also technically qualifies due to PLA, but Deoxys is the only one to be defined as such in publication. The Speed Forme for Deoxys was a last minute addition for the release of Pokemon Emerald, which likely explains why it doesn't make an appearance in Destiny Deoxys. This is because the other three formes (Defense, Normal, and Attack) are meant to line up to the letters in DNA.
Deoxys is the first Pokemon to get its own personal unique battle theme for a Pokemon in the entire series. Other legendary Pokemon with "unique" themes prior, like boxart legendaries, still shared their theme with the other boxart legendary. Deoxys was the first to get one all to itself.
In Destiny Deoxys, Deoxys is shown creating multiple clones of itself that lacked eyes and a crystalline organ. While this was initially a movie-only ability, it's actually shown to be capable of doing it in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. It's also shown to do it in the manga.
The only time Deoxys has been shown to feel physical pain is in the Pokemon Rangers episode where a certain radio wavelength interferes with the wavelengths it's giving off. Deoxys likely has no central nervous system, so this makes sense.
In the anime, Deoxys is shown to be able to possess Pokemon, when it possesses Team Rocket's Meowth and uses him to communicate to the humans.
Prior to Sword and Shield, Deoxys-Speed has the highest base speed stat out of every other Pokemon at 180 speed. This was later beaten by Regieleki with a base speed stat of 200.
When recruited in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Deoxys will be in its Normal Forme when playing in the overworld; however, when exploring a dungeon, Deoxys's Forme will be randomly selected each time the player progresses to a new floor.
Deoxys's Speed Forme was initially referred to as "Flight Forme" when it was first released.
Despite Hoenn being based on the island of Kyushu in Japan, Larousse City, the anime-exclusive location that Destiny Deoxys takes place in, is actually based off of Vancouver, BC. South City, another anime-exclusive location mentioned in the movie, is also likely based on Burnaby, BC.
He's a pretty cool guy.
