Hachi machi! It's been months since I last wrote in here!
I'm not great at keeping up with this, huh...? I guess it's okay
as long as I don't forget about it permanently.
Not much has changed vis-a-vis my real life-- I've been working
hard trying to keep up with overdue commissions, and I've got
a LOT of new anime figures. Like... a lot.
I might need a new shelf. um
THE PROTOMEN ANNOUNCED ACT III!! Earlier in October, they
announced that the album would be coming out after SIXTEEN YEARS!
We've got a couple of snippets since 2009, but it's been *so*
long, it's actually crazy we're getting it after so long! And
not only that, but earlier today they announced that they would
be playing ALL THREE ACTS at MAGfest! So, now I *got* to go,
right?! There's no way I can miss that! I promised myself as a
teenager that I want to see them before they finish up forever,
and this is the best possible opportunity to do it! It's crazy!!
It's like a dream!!
To prepare for MAGfest, I've been working hard on commissions to
get money together, but it's going to be super expensive since
I'm travelling such a far distance >_< I've never travelled
alone before, but at least I won't be going to MAGfest alone!
Nim, Mica, Cue, and Jayso are all also going to go with me. I
can't wait!
I've also been preparing by getting a cosplay of Protoman
together-- Mica has the poncho and helmet, since shipping it
was much cheaper within America than paying for the shipping to
send it to me. (Seriously, eBay wanted fifty dollars JUST for
the shipping, come on...?) They're also going to paint the
helmet for me! It's the exact same helmet and poncho in the
actual on-stage costume, so I'm super super super excited.
I'm also going to make a gun arm out of a nerf gatling gun and
EVA foam! I'm suuuuper nervous, since I've never worked with
EVA foam or even tried to make a prop before, but I've made a
ton of Gundams, so I believe in myself! I'm just going to have
to send it to Jayso beforehand, since... uh, there's no way
I'll be able to take that on a plane without any problems, LOL.
Travelling to America is scary, but I'll do anything to see my
favourite band of all time! >:)
Speaking of Gundams, I actually got the Siren kit! Drew was kind
enough to help me get it, so I'm really, really thankful!
I even got the custom wings from that guy on Etsy! I still need
to build it, I'm, um... really intimidated. I'll need to paint
the custom wings and stand myself, and since I don't have any
paints, I'll probably have to wait until next year to build it
since I'm saving up for MAGfest.
I applied for a passport yesterday, so wish me luck that it goes
through smoothly! We also got the MAGfest tickets... not cheap,
both things, but, you know, the economy and all of that...
If I can make enough money drawing sexy anime girls, I'm more
than happy to do that!
My parents are definitely apprehensive about the whole thing,
but I *am* an adult, aren't I...? I guess they're always gonna
worry, no matter how old you are. I think my mom's realized I'm
not going to change my mind on this and how important this is
to me, so she's been giving me a lot of advice on travelling and
making sure I have all the right stuff prepared and whatnot.
Love you mama <3
I refuse to let any shark week take me down! I've been training
through it no problem! I'm gonna be super strong by the time
January rolls around, and I'll be the strongest Protoman at the
function...! Watch me go...!
It just flipped over to November as I was writing this! Merry
Christmas! Let's work hard and make something super super cool!!!
"How *not* to lose? It is impossible not to. The world is balanced on the edge of a knife. It's a game of frayed nerves. You're pushed on by numbers and punitive measures: pain, rejection, and unpaid bills. You can either play or you can crawl under a boat and waste away -- turn into salt or a flock of seagulls. Your enemies would *love* that. Or you can fight. The only way to load the dice is to keep on fighting."
